Panic Hit Mexico City
MEXICO CITY, KOMPAS.com-citizen Mexican capital, Mexico City, panicked after a powerful earthquake struck on Saturday (12/10/2011) night or Sunday (11/12/2011) am this morning. The quake was centered in the State of Guerrero, about 166 kilometers west of Mexico City, as reported previously.
The quake registered 6.7 bermagnitud it feels very strong in Mexico City. Skyscraper buildings swayed and residents who were enjoying a Saturday night panic, scrambling out of the house and shopping centers.
"The quake was very strong. The whole emergency response service has been activated," said the mayor of Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrard, in kicauannya through social networking Twitter. Reuters news agency reporter in the city reported that the earthquake took place in a long time.
There are no reports of damage or casualties caused by these large-magnitude earthquake. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no risk of tsunami from the quake.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at 19:47 local time on Saturday night, or 8:47 o'clock pm this Sunday. The quake occurred in the State of Guerrero, southwestern Mexico, the epicenter within 35 km from the city of Teloloapan, Guerrero, Mexico, at a depth of 64.9 km.
